The Ladybirds
I am Mrs Marlese Naude (Mrs Naude, Mrs Dee, Mrs Moredear or sometimes even Mrs Naughtydear!). I have taught at the Lea since 2001 and have been head teacher since the beginning of 2006.
I have 17 years' teaching experience following a four-year foundation phase diploma specialising in pre-primary education.
I taught for nine years at a school in Cape Town's Northern Suburbs, before moving to Durban with my family in 1995 where I had the privilege of becoming involved in special needs education. I taught in the pre-primary department of Browns School for children with cerebral palsy and language or developmental delays. From there I moved to the Children's Assessment and Therapy Centre (CATC Sherwood, Durban), where I taught the Junior group in the attached pre-primary school. We dealt with behavioural problems, ADHD and language delays, as well as screening children for appropriate placement into schools. I relocated to Cape Town with my family in 2001 and have been at the Lea ever since.
I'm married to Andre Naude, an avid sportsman and the oldest surfer on the beach, and have one son, Gareth.
